Well ladies and gents, the wedding season is back and my first event of the year did not disappoint! I drove from Atlanta to middle Georgia to photograph the lovely wedding of Jamie + Loribeth.
Nightmares of forgotten camera gear and missed wake up calls are the norm among wedding photographers, but I began the day a little more anxious than usual because I was shooting this one solo under a pretty ominous weather forecast. I’ve been doing this job for years and still get butterflies as I drive to the wedding venue. And by the end of the day I always look back and wonder why I ever doubted how amazing my job is. My couples’ love for each other always brightens the day. Which speaking of, I think it’s best to have Loribeth and Jamie tell their love story themselves before diving into some wedding photos from last Saturday.
From their wedding website: “When Loribeth was in middle school she met Jamie through her best friend while playing soccer at First Christian Church. She thought Jamie was super cute with his curly ‘fro and he pretty much looked just like Frodo, so she was smitten. Jamie thought she was really cool, even though she was known as the “Mankiller” on the soccer field. Loribeth noticed that whenever somebody got knocked over or tripped, Jamie would run over to them and help them up. They gradually became friends, even though she was a little mean and aggressive and Jamie was oddly feminine for his age (favorite color purple). About a year later during a game of capture the flag, Jamie grabbed Loribeth’s flag, and being the competitive person she is, she punched him in the nose. (Honestly, it was a reflex.) Even through that, Jamie was still sweet and kind, and they continued to be friends. About two years later, they both attended the Christ In Youth Conference in Savannah with the FCC youth group. They were very close friends by this point. They spent a lot of time hanging out and talking one-on-one that week. It never crossed Lb’s mind that Jamie would be interested in her! On the way back from the beach, in the middle of the night, they were sitting next to each other on a bus and he whispered in her ear and asked if he could hold her hand. This was the smoothest Jamie would be until the day he proposed. The rest is history!”
Jamie + Loribeth,
I mean c’mon! That love story is stuff romantic movies are made of! I think your love literally overcame the dark skies, revealing some amazing sunlight on your big day. Listening to you both recite your handwritten vows was the sweetest way to kick off my wedding season. You truly have waited so long for this day and it has finally come and gone. I am so honored I could be there to freeze these incredibly important moments for you to look back on for a lifetime. Thank you so much for setting the bar so high for 2014. I truly enjoyed it!
“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You never know, dear, how much I love you
Please don’t take my sunshine away.”~ Oliver Hood
