Okay, so I teased you about “ring shots” last week. Curious to know what was special about this shot?
It was shot with my (now dead) Sony Cybershot point and shoot camera!
I got bored one day and decided to do a “ring shoot”. My engagement ring loved being a model for a day!
I followed the fabulous instructions provided by the amazing Anne Ruthmann to achieve these shots without a professional camera. Then I tweaked them to perfection by using several iPhoto and Picnik edits. (more detail on what I did here)
The point of this post is that a camera alone does not make a photographer.
If you have the creativity and patience, you can create really special images with just about any camera out on the market. So if you’re like me and often find yourself discouraged because you’re not working with the fanciest equipment available to world-renowned photographers, just remember this post. Break out your point and shoot (and its manual so you know your camera settings inside and out), and spend a day with your imagination!
Btw, if you have an interest in having cool shots of your engagement ring (or any jewelry or knick-knack that holds a special place in your heart) but have no interest in taking them yourself, I’ll do them for you! I just purchased a macro-like “close-up” lens and can’t wait to try it out!
Do you have any special shots of your engagement ring?
