Every once in a while, I give away a session out of pure selfishness. Yes, you read that right. I give away a session because I’m selfish. What do I mean? Well, when I really want to shoot in a particular location or try a very specific style of shoot but I don’t happen to have a client on the books for it, I put out a “model call” of sorts to make it happen! And when I noticed the fair was in town last month, I immediately knew I HAD to shoot there. So I posted this flyer on my Facebook page* in hopes of finding the perfect couple to help me shoot my very first session at the fair!
*Side note: It’s always a good idea to like my Facebook page because I love giveaways and contests! Hint hint!
I quickly found a lovely couple and we matched up our schedules so we could get out shooting. But after several reschedulings thanks to uncooperative weather with that original couple, my photography friend Noi volunteered her husband and herself to be my “guinea pigs” on the FINAL day of the fair. They braved chilly temps and even the rain for me. And the results were SO worth the wait! ^_^
Noi’s smile is infectious. I can almost hear her laugh through this photograph. ❤
This isn’t actually our umbrella. We spotted a man holding it over his loved one to shield her from the rain. I ran up and asked if we could switch umbrellas just for a couple shots and he gladly agreed. I don’t know if he’ll ever see the final results but we sure are grateful for his willingness to lend a such a cute prop!
I adore Vu + Noi mostly because they’re a lot like me: willing to laugh at the things some people might be uptight about. Like their Asian heritage. Any time I carpool with them they joke about being “bad drivers”. So they naturally had to stop in front of the “Orient Express” to poke fun at themselves. Sort of like when I do my rain dancing IN the rain. 😉
Of course, no visit to the fair is complete without trying out some of the food! Noi begged for a hot dog the entire session and was so giddy when Vu finally bought her one!
And FIERCE I might add.
Thanks so much for stepping up on such short notice Vu + Noi! Maybe one day I can return the favor. 😉
